About Cabo Pulmo National Park:
Location and access:
Cabo Pulmo is located in the East Cape area of Baja California Sur, on the Sea of Cortez , about a 1 ½ hour drive north of the San Jose del Cabo airport and Cabo San Lucas.
Whether coming from La Paz or San Jose del Cabo take Mex 1, south from La Paz or north from San Jose.
From the San Jose airport / Cabo area head north toward LaPaz, you will pass Miraflores where there is a Pemex, you will pass the exit to Santiago, then the village of Las Cuevas where you will pass by a few large topes in the road and a couple of small stores on your left. Just past Las Cuevas there is the exit to Santa Cruz, La Rivera and Cabo Pulmo. You will pass through Santa Cruz, then you will reach La Ribera, take the fork to the right toward Cabo Pulmo at the Oxxo store. You will pass a Pemex on your left and also the last convenience store, called El Rey on your right. This is your last chance to buy what you forgot ! Also, La Ribera has the last Pemex, so if you need gas, get it in La Ribera! Continue on this route until the paved road ends and turns into a dirt road. Follow the dirt road for 10 kms or about 6 mi. with beautiful landscapes of desert and coast, especially when you approach Cabo Pulmo.
When you come into Cabo Pulmo, go straight into the village. Pass the big blue building on your left that says Cabo Pulmo Resort and we are one block beyond on corner to the beach . Watersports is a big RED building on your right with a shark on the front !
Cabo Pulmo is a remembrance of what the Mexican Pacific Coast was like some 40 years ago. A place like few left in the world…
